Delicate wings

This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge at The Daily post at wordpress.com is “Delicate

Butterflies have delicate beauty. A beauty that seems impossible because of how delicate those creatures are. As you gaze upon them you expect those wonderful colors and patterns to just blow off with the first burst of wind.

So much effort in expressing beauty and so little in efficient aerodynamics, but yet they fly and swiftly too! So is their delicate appearance just an illusion played upon us by our own prejudice?

    • My daughter raised them from caterpillars in a special enclosure. Once emerged from the chrysalis, the butterflies weren’t in too of a hurry to fly away, and just perched on her hand for a while… It was really, really cool.
